Jack Conway urges the continuation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s work.
On this historic day, Jack Conway, Democratic candidate for United States Senate, issued this statement regarding the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:
“Today we stand together as a nation to recognize the accomplished life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In his all-too-brief time on earth, Dr. King organized the masses in peaceful pursuit of equality for all people. He spoke publicly about the need for quality education, good jobs and a decent standard of living for women and men, black and white, rich and poor, from all walks of life.
“The lessons he taught us resonate as we consider the challenges we face today. There is still much to be done as we must work together to tackle the lack of accessible medical care, the underfunded educational systems, and the absence of living wage jobs for many families right here in Kentucky.
“The pursuit of Dr. King’s dreams should continue to guide our leaders to find ways to improve the lives of our citizens today and in the future. On what would have been his 81st birthday, we should all pause to acknowledge the work of Dr. King and dare each day to keep his dream alive.”
Democrat Dan Mongiardo: (On a blog entry:)
Today we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King was a courageous man who saw wrongs and fought to right them, saw injustice and dared to fight it. Although his life was ended tragically and far too soon, Dr. King taught us invaluable lessons about bravery and hope in times of adversity.
I’ll be in surgery all day in Hazard, but I hope you will join me in taking a moment to remember Martin Luther King, Jr. and all that he stood for. And, if you can, attend one of the many celebrations of Dr. King’s life taking place throughout the Commonwealth or participate in the King Day of Service.
Republican Trey Grayson: (From Twitter Comment linked on his web site):

Republican Rand Paul:
Nothing.
In the absence of any acknowledgment of any sort from Rand Paul, Blue Bluegrass offers the following photographic reference of Rand Paul’s brother in arms, which includes a YouTube link of his emotional appeal to his constituency:
