The Great Compromiser

mitch-mcconnell-09081If only Mitch McConnell cared as much for his country as he does for his corporate handlers. Instead of pandering to the fear of the day, he might actually be worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as a true Kentucky statesman, Senator Henry Clay.

Instead, McConnell confirmed what should surprise few here in Kentucky. The only responsibility McConnell can identify as the leader of his party is to insure that no legislation is passed. That is the disgraceful truth that was reported in the New York Times yesterday:

Senior Republicans showed little new willingness to collaborate with the Democrats. Asked where he might be willing to work across the aisle, the Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, offered praise for Mr. Obama’s strategy in Afghanistan but not a single example on domestic policy.
