Well, there’s two months to go before the election, but Democratic supporters should just go home and call it a day. Karl Rove’s photos of that scary duo in the rear view mirror running wall to wall the last two weeks have had the cynical and desired effect.
Because of the ignorance of ________ (fill in the blank with the target du jour) the Republicans will sweep every race in the country, and several in Canada and Mexico, and even the upcoming presidential elections in Haiti. And there’s no reason to do anything about it, other than sit around and point fingers, because, of course, nothing anyone does can possibly make any difference in any race.
Democrats are advised to wail, gnash their teeth, and otherwise do nothing to reduce or in some races reverse the undeniable Republican trend of 2010. Do not expend any effort on behalf of Democratic candidates, because no one can ever make a difference.
Joe has some good analysis of the SurveyUSA numbers showing Conway down.
Anyone who takes the above sarcasm as reality will probably want to scoot on off to any number of other outlets that will be more in keeping with a world view that nothing can ever be changed. For those stupid enough to think these things matter and that they can make a difference: Years like 2008 are not the most important elections of a lifetime. They may be the most enjoyable, and the most historic, and the best outcomes. The most important elections are ones like this. Will the sweep be so severe that the U.S. House and Senate are both flipped? Will one or both be salvaged? Can the Kentucky state senate be reclaimed by Democrats, even in the face of such a surge, because of a race-by-race approach?
No one knows. But only a fool would decide that 2010 is a year that doesn’t deserve full effort, whatever the result is that is produced.
The Cheque’s analysis of the poll population is an indication of the
pervasiveness of the right-wing [now rite-weng] media. By polling too heavily
in areas that tend to report the results they favor, pollsters can skew the
results in a way the general public will never see.
Does anyone out there need a picture drawn on how this is another republican’t
lie to the people?
