Blue Bluegrass is a Kentucky blog about policy and politics, maintained by a liberal Kentucky Democrat. This blog is a personal passion. The administrator has been a state employee for 17 years, and does not accept any payments from anyone other than his paycheck. The administrator is not in a policy-making position in state government, and will not post on any issue that may be subject to action by his agency.
Unlike other blogs, there are no hidden payments from unrevealed sources that deceptively influence what is written and published, no consulting fees, no secret payments from unknown supporters that pay for favorable posts, and no complimentary tickets of any sort are accepted.
The administrator has most passionately and will continue to support many candidates that show the most potential to improve Kentucky, and will also post expressing personal opinions about positions and candidates.
Kentucky is a poor state with a long history of injustice, and an equally long history of people willing to identify and work to change things. Too often in Kentucky the public good takes a back seat to an interest relating to the flow of money.
This blog is a platform for anyone so inclined to speak up and identify things that must change. It is a source of discussion and news for politics, but also for the critical policies behind the politics. Anyone is welcome who wants to write their own posts as content on this site—anonymously, publicly, or cross-posted. Most of the best blogs are multi-voiced. Confidentiality will be honored. Thanks for visiting, and become part of this blog. Please share comments and posts, and share the site with friends.
Also, you may notice that my posts all tend to be scheduled for the same time of day. There is a feature in WordPress that allows me to schedule the publishing dates ahead of time. If there are delays in responding to posts, please keep in mind that I will not respond to any comments during my work day. I will reply as soon as possible, and certainly the same day as the comments are posted.
My suggestion to lead the Kentucky Democratic Party is Julian Carroll. There is not a more ardent supporter of Democrats. He traveled thousands of miles working for Ky’s Democrat Senators. He is a great speaker, knows Democratic policies inside and out and is full of Democratic energy.
I really liked your statement about candidates working events same for volunteers. What killed me was hearing from Senators was “I have my own race to run”. By not helping out their fellow Senators and candidates allowed us to get our asses handed to us. We must pull together and work as a TEAM. We must rebuild the Democratic party from the bottom up. To do that we need a good leader. Julian Carroll
Does the Democratic party have an Executive Committee in every county? What are their names, email addresses, phone numbers etc. These need to be updated or rebuilt. Gov. Carroll can do that. That is a good email address, I hope you reply.
Thanks
John
How about Horne? Lawyer instead od evengelist. One thing Soldiers, sailors, Marines and Airmen have in common: We know teamwork and bringing disparate pieces into harmony.

Do you have any Frankfort Ky capitol pictures?
There’s one of the river up now…
Liberal Democrats infesting Kentucky state government is a large part of what’s wrong with this state. We need to purge this type of thinking from Frankfort and replace said individuals with common-sense conservatives who are frugal with the taxpayers’ money and understand that government is the cause of many problems, not the ultimate and best solution to problems. There have to be some ways around 18A to get rid of those with this poisonous mindset in state government.
“We need to purge this type of thinking from Frankfort and replace said individuals with common-sense conservatives who are frugal with the taxpayers’ money and understand that government is the cause of many problems…”
Yeah, we tried that in the last administration and it didn’t work out so well. Politicians seem to struggle with the power and responsibility that comes with their elective office, but it was particularly stunning with how quickly the Fletcher administration descended into corruption and criminal activity. The state GOP needs to wander in the wilderness a while longer.
Oh, look Roy! Ernie Fletcher’s back in town…or is that Larry Forgy?
Whatever … !
As for ‘Perfect …” up above. Let’s point out a few problems with his opinion. Keep yer grits in yer plate; I’m not going to tell you to have no opinion, or it’s wrong. I will argue that it’s misguided.
1. No government employee is ever selected because it is a liberal, except during the fletcher administration – and then it was selected because it wasn’t a liberal and had a note from its republican’t county chair to prove it. It is selected because it is either:
A. a political appointee, like Bob, who has a record of legal compliance that has not been reversed by higher authorities, and in many cases lauded for efficacy of scope & quality of written decision. Quit blushing!
B. a merit employee, like me, who has demonstrated administrative, operational and executive competence, avoided complaints from subordinates and the public, demonstrated timely performance, recording and reporting as well as accurate documentation – before appointment by the state.
2. Any merit employee, like me, who holds a public position in any manner that can identify it, is in violation of the state’s statutes on merit appointments.
3. Merit employees may only be discharged for cause: absence, poor performance (defined by the job description and employee handbook), insubordination, political activity, felony conviction or intemperate public display – to include, but not necessarily limited to – rude public behavior or discourse.
Your saint fletcher sought to dismantle this structure and now you argue putting a bunch of knuckle-dragging, pencil-necked, pointy-headed, uneducated, illiterate, toothless cretins on the payroll like they did is an improvement?
.
Honest and unpurchased view? I’d say this blog is wholly owned by the Beshear administration, since the proprietor is a non-merit bureaucrat whose continuation in his high-paying job is contingent upon Beshear winning re-election. Those reversionary rights could result in said proprietor being transferred to being the janitor at the state highway garage in Fulton County should Williams win. Therefore it’s in Bob’s financial best interests to promote Beshear/Abramson and slam Williams/Farmer.
The argument is specious. Bob can practice law anywhere he wants.
There is no jakepayne style payola here; Knot-Bob and I are merit employees so we must use pseudonyms. The alliances are open. In open alliances there is no ethical boundary to cross; only empty accusations from empty buckets like you.
You, child, are the never-ending Hannukah gift! Many thanks!!
